Archdiocese Requests a Second Collection for the Australian Wildfire

To the Reverend Clergy and the Esteemed Philoptochos Chapter Presidents of the Metropolis of Atlanta:

My Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I greet you with love and joy in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, praying that you and your families receive His blessings of health, peace, and joy, as we prepare to begin the Triodion!

I am sure that you all echo my  sadness at the news coming from Australia after the loss of life and nature in the wildfires that affected that country in recent months. I know that together, we continue to pray that our Holy Theotokos ask our Lord intercede on behalf of this land, bringing comfort to those affected in the face of such terrible destruction.

As we continue to keep the victims of the fires in our prayers, it has come to my attention that it is the wish of our beloved Archdiocese that all our American Metropolises offer some financial assistance to our sister Orthodox Church, the Archdiocese of Australia.

I wished to encourage you, my dear brother clergy and sisters of Philoptochos, to arrange the passing of a second collection tray, this coming Sunday, February 9th, which shall be offered by our Archdiocese of America to our Orthodox Christian brothers and sisters in Australia.

I appreciate your willingness to live out our Lord’s Gospel of charitable love. May our continued intercessions to our Creator help to bring a spirit of healing and peace to those individuals and communities affected. I remain,

Paternally yours, with much love in the Lord,
